Drunken Prophecy

The youngest son of a large coven in Portland, Oregon, Declan was always more sensitive and aware of people than any one else in the coven. His magic didn't manifest towards the dramatic elemental displays of his older brother, Sean, or the soothing healing of his older sister, Leah, but instead focused intensely on the psychic, mediumship, and the prophetical. He grew up in a loving and supportive home though he and his brother sometimes clashed. He spent years learning to control his powers, to block out the emotions of other people, and translate the visions he saw. He grew comfortable seeing and talking to the dead.
Once he had that control, Declan went out and embraced the world. He was popular in high school, joined choir and acted in school plays. He loved to read when he wasn't out socializing. He'd read anything put in front of him, fiction and non-fiction. He loved writing too and would write short stories and poetry. It was a pretty normal life except for the pagan rituals of his family and the magic he was surrounded with.
Junior year of college working on an English Lit degree, though, he freaked out about what he was going to do with his life. He couldn't see himself in a classroom teaching, couldn't see himself in libraries or anywhere. He felt like he didn't belong in this life. Declan dropped out, followed a vision he had to a little town in Alabama where a little girl was developing psychic powers. He helped her and it felt good.
Declan decided to do that instead. It was the biggest fight he ever had with his brother. Since then he has drifted from place to place, following his gut instincts and psychic visions to where he should go and what he should do. Most often he's a barista or bartender to earn enough money to move on. In almost every place he ends up there's a spirit that needs his help or someone with emerging psychic powers. It's good. It's weird, sure, but it's good.
It's hard to be the black sheep in a family of witches but he's as close as he could get to one.
personality
Declan is an easy going guy with a bright sense of humor and a fondness for puns. He's friendly, outgoing, and will talk to strangers on a whim. Sometimes, his humor swings towards the morbid or he'll talk about ghosts and death a little brighter than the average person. Most first meetings, he's just a nice guy.
Being an empath, though, he can easily pick up on things people might not want known. He keeps most people at a distance, relationships are often casual because he travels around a lot. Declan follows his psychic visions and empathic senses to places where his particular skill set is needed.
As he's spent his life being able to see and talk to the dead, Declan ain't afraid of no ghost. The mediumship is fine. He doesn't mind that but seeing the future is really inconvenient in most cases. There are times he doesn't like following his psychic visions around and wants a normal life with long lasting relationships, a steady job, and normalcy.
But that's not going to happen so he does his best to go with the flow. In his darker moods he'll get drunk or high to feel a little better and let his powers go wild.
abilities
Medium: Declan can sense, speak with, and see spirits and ghosts. He doesn't hold seances or use Ouija boards. He will do everything in his power to send a spirit to the afterlife, whatever afterlife they believed in awhile alive.
Empathy: Declan is sensitive to the emotions of others. He can feel what other people feel which means he can pick up on dishonesty pretty quickly.
Prophetical Visions: Declan can see the future. His visions come to him in a lot of metaphor that require him to pick apart and translate to figure out what they're trying to tell him. Most often they come to him in dreams. Sometimes he'll get flashes of things when he's awake. When drunk or high, they come easier and faster.
